Series III hardware
Taking advantage of the latest computer technology, the Cambridge series III host PC represents a significant step forward for CEDAR Cambridge. The core software of CEDAR Cambridge and every processing module has been rewritten to take advantage of the latest Windows Vista operating system. Consequently, every CEDAR Cambridge System III is shipped with Windows Vista 64 as standard.
Cambridge Series III has eight processors with a combined peak calculation speed of close to 120GFLOPs – that’s 120 billion 64-bit calculations per second and more than double the processing power of previous hardware revisions. This increase in power is of particular benefit to users who take advantage of the system's multi-channel and batch processing capabilities, or have a need to run dozens of power-hungry processes (such as adaptive filters with long filter lengths) simultaneously.
The same increase in power and facility is true when you consider the storage capability of Series III, which includes as standard three TeraByte hard disk drives capable of storing around 10,000 hours of uncompressed audio. This makes every Series III suitable for use as a restoration server in demanding environments such as national archives and libraries, in which a single CEDAR Cambridge system can simultaneously service the needs of numerous studios and users.
Series III is a server-grade powerhouse capable of processing more audio, more quickly, and for more simultaneous users than ever before.
The Timecode Automation Controller
The dedicated timecode reader ensures that processed audio always remains aligned to video, so that CEDAR Cambridge will work in harmony with any audio or video workstation. It also provides facilities for full automation of all CEDAR Cambridge processing parameters.
v5.1 Audio Modules
There are a growing family of CEDAR Cambridge processing modules. These are applicable in all areas of audio, and we offer configured systems for film soundtrack restoration and post (the CEDAR Cambridge Film System), audio restoration for CD and DVD (the CEDAR Cambridge Mastering System), two for audio forensic investigation (the CEDAR Cambridge Forensic Systems), and the CEDAR Cambridge Server. |
